Nightlife in Lisbon

Lisbon’s nightlife is probably one of the most fun out of all the European capitals. One of its best virtues is that we can find many different environments in it, so everyone can find the one in which they can feel most comfortable.

The nightlife in Lisbon hosts from quieter bars where you can relax and have a beer, to trendy nightclubs, passing through the informal atmosphere of the Bairro Alto, the terraces of the Docas or the Parque de las Naciones if you feel more like you want to eat or drink something. When it comes to going out in Lisbon, there is no shortage of options to have fun.

ENJOYING AT BAIRRO ALTO

Lisbon’s nightlife usually begins shortly before midnight. The most popular place to start a night in Lisbon is Bairro Alto, where bars open shortly after dinner but only start to fill up around midnight. The most common thing to do is to have a good dinner, either at home or in a restaurant, and then start out on a night tour.

The Bairro Alto is the most important meeting point in the beginning of Lisbon’s nightlife. Its atmosphere and the way of enjoying it is very peculiar. The area is full of small bars, many of which do not fit more than ten or fifteen people at a time. As there is no space, the locals usually buy their drinks in plastic cups, take the drinks out to the street and chat quietly with friends or other people they have just met in the neighborhood. The Barrio Alto is known to be a great place to meet people in Lisbon.

NIGHT CLUBS IN LISBON

The clubs in the Portuguese capital each have their own unique atmosphere. Many have opened their doors in old warehouses on the quayside, Cais do Sodré. Everyone will find music to their liking: the hits of the moment to which we dance all summer, or on the contrary groups of very good DJs, going through jazz, electro, world music or metal. If you are willing to go out at night in Lisbon there will be a spot to satisfy every taste in music.

And nothing prohibits looting, one night here, another there, a traditional „before“, and a more alternative „after.“ To go clubbing in Lisbon, all excuses are good. So, let’s not be sectarian – we can relate to unfamiliar musical genres just out of curiosity because that’s part of the trip’s discoveries!

LISBON FOR NIGHT MUSIC LOVERS

Since 2012 and his move to an old warehouse on the docks, B.Leza has experienced a beautiful rebirth. This is THE legendary African music club for fans of swaying rhythms. The happy few who dominate the demanding hips of Angolan and Cape Verdean music, kizomba, semba and funaná, will come to enjoy it, especially during very popular workshops. The DJs and orchestras with live music are all excellent and promise nights with communicative energy.

Incognito, Ministerium:

Incognito and Ministerium are great classics among the nightclubs in Lisbon.

Incognito, the oldest club in Lisbon has been open continuously since 1988, no less. Alternative rock and synthetic pop of the eighties, the musical choices are indie. Inside, a mezzanine looks out over the dance floor, while above, a loft with a second bar offers a space to capture attention.

Ministerium, in Praça do Comércio, owes its name to the fact that it has been established in the old building of the Ministry of Finance and carries its 18th-century architecture with charm. But beware, Ministerium is a Saturday night only club.

ENJOY!

To finish in style, all you have to do is go home early in the morning, tired but happy, your head slightly cloudy, waving at the rising sun!
